Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant changes, including the hotel replacing the castle and cafés and shops being added near the lifeboat. However, the response only partially reports the main features, and some descriptions are unclear or inaccurate. For example, the northern public beach is described as being “in the norh side,” although it is at the north-east, and the dock’s change is not clearly explained: today it has an additional jetty and two boats. The overview also says there were “many sevral changes” without summarising the most important transformations, such as the marina and fishing boats exchanging locations. Select the major changes and describe their positions precisely to make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic time-based structure, with paragraphs beginning “Before” and “After,” and it attempts to signal an overview using “Overall.” These choices help the reader recognise the comparison. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview lists features in a fragmentary way, and details sometimes appear in an order that makes their relationships difficult to follow. Connectors such as “Furthermore,” “Whereas,” and “Consequentally” are used mechanically or do not clearly express the intended relationship. Some sentences also run together, as in “a marina yachts was stand there.centere of the sea…”. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by grouped, location-based comparisons, and use linking words only where they clarify the connection.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “harbour,” “marina,” “lifeboat,” “car park,” and “replaced,” so the reader can identify some of the features being compared. However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make the description difficult to understand, such as “diagrames,” “revemping,” “publich,” and “discused.” Several phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “the stand of dock doubled” and “free space of the sea.” Use accurate map vocabulary and collocations, for example, say that a facility is “located” or “situated” in an area, and that a feature “was replaced by” another. Careful spelling checks would also make your meaning more accessible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to form longer sentences and compare the two maps, using structures such as “while” and “whereas.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction and verb forms often make the relationships between features unclear. Examples include “the comapres the diagrame there were,” “a marina yachts was stand there,” and “castle was replaced into Hotel.” Articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries are also unreliable; for instance, “centere of the sea was make the passenger ferries” is not a complete, well-formed description. Build accurate simple sentences first, then add comparisons with controlled clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, past-tense forms, articles, and punctuation when editing.
