Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant changes, including the hotel replacing the castle, the addition of cafés and shops, and the hotel’s private beach. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it gives few precise comparisons and omits major changes such as the marina and fishing boats switching locations and the extra jetty at the dock. The overview that the harbour is “well-developed” is broad, while “re-creation, build, manufacture the things” does not clearly describe the map. There are also factual inaccuracies: a road was already present in 2000, and there were two car parks then as well as today, not one. The response is five words below the required minimum. Include a clearer overview and accurately describe the main changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, gives a general overview, and then mentions changes in the body. Linking words such as “However,” “Finally,” and “Therefore” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear. “Moreover” and “Formore” introduce points without establishing how they relate, and the final paragraph repeats the general claim that things were added rather than developing a distinct comparison. Some references, such as “most of the things,” are vague, making it harder to follow which features are being discussed. Group the changes by location or type, and use clear references to the harbour features to create a more logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “facilities,” “cafes and shops,” “Castle,” “hotel,” and “private beach,” so the reader can identify several changes. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make the description unclear. “Re-creation, build, manufacture the things” does not convey a precise map change, while “parking” is less suitable than “car park” in this context. There are also spelling and form errors, including “befor,” “hotal,” and “Formore.” Aim for accurate map vocabulary and verbs such as “relocated,” “replaced,” and “added”; these will help you report changes more precisely without relying on general phrases such as “things.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and joined sentences, for example, “Castle is change into a hotel” and “However now there is more facilities than before.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. The opening has subject–verb and tense problems (“picture compare” and “in the year the 2000”), while “there was no road befor but now build a road” has faulty tense and sentence structure. Agreement and articles are also inconsistent, as in “there is more facilities” and “a private beach for the hotel only.” Most sentences rely on basic patterns, and attempts to combine clauses are often inaccurate. Practise past-versus-present forms and build clear sentences using “whereas” or “while” for comparisons.
