Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes, including the exchange of the marina and fishing-boat areas, the addition of cafés and shops, and the conversion of the castle into a hotel with a private beach. You also note that the northern public beach remains. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it does not give a clear overview of the main pattern of redevelopment, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, “there are two docks now” is not supported by the plans; the northern dock has an additional jetty and two boats. The description of the roads and the new facilities is also difficult to verify. Group the major changes clearly and report locations precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response contains relevant information and moves broadly from the entrance area to the road, then to the hotel and beaches. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the ideas are crowded into four loosely connected paragraphs without a distinct overview. Linking phrases such as “and from there” and “on the other road” do not make the locations or relationships easy to follow. Repetition also weakens the organisation: cafés and shops are mentioned twice, as is the private beach. Use a clear structure—an overview followed by grouped details—and connect each feature to a precise location, such as north, south, or beside the road.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “marina,” “fishing boats,” “lifeboat,” “private beach,” and “cafes and shops,” which helps communicate the main changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings reduce clarity, such as “yatches,” “shopes,” “space” for the lifeboat location, and “entrance” where you appear to mean the main road. Phrases such as “there is facility of private beach” and “exchanges their positions” are not natural collocations. Aim for precise map-description language, for example “the marina and fishing-boat areas have swapped locations” and “a hotel has replaced the disused castle.” Check spelling and use standard labels from the plan.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses such as “as going forward” and “which was castle before,” but sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed. For example, “the given diagram illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “marina private yatches and fishing boats exchanges their positions” has problems with sentence structure and agreement. Articles and verb forms are also frequently missing or incorrect, as in “there is facility” and “cafes and shopes opened.” Punctuation is largely absent, so several ideas run together and become difficult to interpret. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate each location or change.
