Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main transformation from a working harbour to a more visitor-oriented site, including the hotel replacing the disused castle and the southern beach becoming private. You also report the relocation of fishing boats and yachts, which is an important comparison. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the dock is not described as an additional passenger-and-goods dock; rather, it gains another jetty and has two boats. The north-east public beach remains, and the lifeboat station is retained, but these features are omitted. The overview also refers to “additional docks” and “washrooms” without clearly distinguishing what changed. Covering these key features accurately and explaining the overall pattern more precisely would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the earlier and current layouts. This gives the reader a generally logical progression, and phrases such as “In 2000” and “After the renovation” help signal the time comparison. The main limitation is that some sentences group locations or changes in a way that makes relationships difficult to follow, for example, “It also contained a single dock on public beach side and private yachts on the nrth of the harbour.” The final paragraph also moves quickly between several features without consistently distinguishing their positions. Use clearer location-based sequencing and link each change directly to its former and current position; this would make the organisation more consistently easy to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “north west side,” “south east corner,” “disused castle,” and “private beach,” and the reader can generally understand the changes being described. However, the range and precision are uneven. Some expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “single dock on public beach side,” “additional dock for passengers and goods loading,” and “washrooms”; the map shows a dock with an extra jetty, while “showers and toilets” is the more accurate label. Spelling errors such as “addititional,” “nrth,” “introducted,” and “Castel” also reduce control. Aim for precise map terms and check spelling, while varying repeated phrases such as “introduced” and “on the … side.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction, and tense occur in several places. For example, “The maps illustrates” should be “The maps illustrate,” while “on the north west side … consists” lacks a clear grammatical subject. The overview phrase “It involves the introduction … to conversion” is also not constructed correctly, and “After the renovation, additional showers and washrooms beside car parking introduced” needs a passive verb form. Some punctuation and spacing around commas are inconsistent as well. Build accuracy by checking each sentence for a subject and finite verb, and use consistent past and present forms when comparing the two plans.
