Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important changes, including the relocation of the marina and fishing boats, the addition of cafés and shops, and the replacement of the disused castle with a hotel. However, the overview is vague: “the harbour has been expanded” is not clearly supported by the plans, and the main pattern of redevelopment is not summarised precisely. Some details are inaccurate or unclear, such as saying the dock “has dock in two” rather than explaining that an additional jetty and a second berthed boat are shown. The response also omits notable changes, including the new south-west facilities and the conversion of the southern public beach into a private hotel beach. It is 144 words, below the required 150. Develop a clearer overview and report the key changes accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a general statement, and paragraphs describing changes. This gives the reader some sense of the comparison, and words such as “In 2000” and “today” help signal time. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak, and several details are joined in ways that make their relationships difficult to follow. For example, “In 2000 the Marina yachts replaced with the Fishing boats and today is fishing boat is delivered private yachts” does not clearly distinguish the two locations or the direction of change. The repeated use of “but” also creates abrupt links. Group changes by area or by type, and use clear comparison phrases such as “whereas” and “in contrast” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “harbour,” “marina,” “passenger ferries,” “lifeboat,” and “private beach,” so the reader can recognise many of the features being compared. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning unclear. “The harbour has been expanded” is an imprecise description of the changes, while “fishing boat is delivered private yachts” does not express the relocation clearly. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “habour,” “diferent,” and “cafes” (for “cafés”). Aim for precise map language such as “relocated,” “converted into,” and “added,” and check spelling and collocations before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “the Marina yachts replaced with the Fishing boats” is missing a suitable verb form, and “today is fishing boat is delivered private yachts” has an unclear subject and verb construction. Agreement and articles are also problematic in “car park and one showers and toilets are same” and “dock has one.” Tense and sentence boundaries are not consistently controlled, as seen in “the road near same in 2000 and today is lifeboat.” Practise accurate past-versus-present comparisons and build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb before adding extra details.
