Student answer (Band 4.5)

This graph illustreate that there is a huge difference in the porth harbour since 2000 and nowadays . Therefore in 2000 the porth harbour were poorly developed such as minior facilites or only few shopes were available that time period.

overall , with the passage of time since 2000 to onward today. The features are changed and being more developed at that time the roads ,car parking area beach and etc

lets talk about porth harbour in 2000 when the features were so quite in the east side there was a public beach, only one dock or a passenger .In the west there was a main road or in south

furthermore , now the things became modified or established

as we saw in the graph the dock developed in twice , morever there is a hotel or cafe shops developed in the sight of the porth harbour or also having a private beach.

in conclusion there is a major differece in the porth harbour sine 2000 and today . more developed or having more features .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad change from a less developed harbour to one with new facilities, and mention several relevant features, including the hotel, cafés and shops, private beach, and expanded dock. However, the account only partially reports the plans: most locations and important changes are omitted or described vaguely. For example, the marina and fishing-boat areas switch places, but this is not reported, and the added showers and toilets and car park are not clearly covered. The statement that the dock “developed in twice” is also unclear. Your overview is present, but “more developed” needs support with the main specific changes. Organise the comparison around the key transformations and accurately describe where they occurred.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to use an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs, and phrases such as “in 2000” and “now” signal a comparison. However, progression is difficult to follow because the description jumps between general claims and isolated details, while several sentences are incomplete or unclear, such as “In the west there was a main road or in south.” Linking words including “therefore,” “furthermore,” and “morever” do not consistently show the relationship between ideas. The conclusion repeats the general claim rather than bringing the main changes together. Use one paragraph for the overall transformation, then compare the harbour’s facilities and land use in a clear sequence, with accurate references to locations.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “public beach,” “main road,” “dock,” “hotel,” and “private beach,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the features were so quite,” “developed in twice,” and “in the sight of the porth harbour.” Spelling errors such as “illustreate,” “facilites,” “shopes,” and “differece” are noticeable and sometimes make reading harder. Aim for precise map-description language and check spelling carefully. Useful verbs include “was replaced by,” “was relocated to,” and “was added,” which can describe the changes more accurately than repeatedly saying “developed.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to form longer sentences and use time references, but sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty, and errors frequently make relationships between features difficult to understand. For example, “the porth harbour were poorly developed” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “when the features were so quite in the east side there was a public beach” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Tense and article use are also inconsistent, as in “the features are changed” and “there was a hotel or cafe shops developed.” Punctuation and capitalisation are unreliable, with several run-on sentences and sentence openings left in lower case. Practise writing short, complete comparisons first, then combine them using accurate past and present forms.
