Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant features, including the main road, fishing boats, marina, cafés and shops, hotel, and private beach. However, the account is often unclear or inaccurate: for example, you place the public beach on the east side in 2000, although the map shows it to the north-east, and you do not clearly explain the key changes, such as the marina and fishing boats exchanging areas. There is no clear overview of the harbour’s main transformation, and many locations are described vaguely rather than compared precisely. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview first, then report the most important changes and stable features using accurate directional relationships.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows a basic chronological order, moving from 2000 to today, and uses a few linking expressions such as “In turn” and “In 2000.” This gives the reader some sense of the two periods. However, the information within each period is not arranged clearly, and several sentences combine unrelated locations or features. Phrases such as “In north and south side” and “Inside of it so many things are here” make it difficult to understand what “it” refers to. The paragraphing also does not distinguish an overview from the detailed comparisons. Organise the response into a brief introduction, an overview, and clearly grouped details, using precise references such as “in the northern basin” and “south of the road.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary includes some relevant map terms, such as “main road,” “car park,” “fishing boats,” “marina,” and “private beach.” These show an attempt to describe the plan rather than discuss an unrelated topic. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow, including “with the chamgement of locations with the sequcence” and “everything was situated in sequcence.” There are also frequent spelling errors, for example “chamgement,” “sequcence,” and “pubilc.” Use accurate location language and verbs suited to maps, such as “was replaced by,” “was relocated to,” “lies adjacent to,” and “remained unchanged.” Proofreading spelling would also make the description easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to describe both past and present arrangements, and some basic sentence patterns are recognisable. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes obscure the relationships between features. For example, “In 2000 in west side … the main road was passing through it” has missing articles and an unclear pronoun, while “public beach are also here” has subject–verb disagreement and an inconsistent tense. The sentence beginning “In north and south side” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and several later clauses are joined without clear boundaries. Practise accurate simple sentences first, using past tense for 2000 and present tense for today, then add controlled comparisons. Check articles, plural forms, agreement, and punctuation in each sentence.
