Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes, including the hotel replacing the castle, the hotel’s private beach, and the addition of cafés and shops near the lifeboat. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “the structure is same” overlooks substantial changes, including the marina and fishing boats switching locations. Some details are also misreported: the dock area had one boat in 2000 and two today, but these are not described as fishing boats; the fishing boats moved from the southern basin to the northern one. The claim that a “new road” was built is unsupported, as the road is shown in both plans. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum. Cover the main relocations and distinguish clearly between unchanged and newly added features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response follows a broadly chronological comparison, beginning with 2000 and then describing the present, and it uses a few linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “also.” This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, the information is compressed into one paragraph, and the progression between features is not always clear: the sentence about the dock, beach and fishing boats combines several locations and changes, making their relationships difficult to follow. “Thus” does not clearly introduce the next point, while “although” is used awkwardly in the overview. Organise the response into a short overview and a separate paragraph comparing the harbour areas, using clear location-based links such as “in the north” and “by contrast.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a harbour plan, including “public beach,” “lifeboat,” “private beach” and “hotel.” These terms help communicate several key features. However, the range is limited, and some choices are inaccurate or imprecise: “renovation” suggests general refurbishment, while the plans show specific changes; “more adventures” does not clearly describe the cafés and shops; and “extra boat” does not identify the change in the dock. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “cark park,” “adition,” “convience” and “residence.” Use precise map vocabulary such as “relocated,” “replaced,” “added” and “adjacent to,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, for example “Castle has now used as hotel to stay,” but the limited range and frequent errors make several statements difficult to read smoothly. Verb forms and articles are often missing or incorrect: “Castle has now used” needs a passive construction, and “one adition … is done” does not express the change naturally. There are also agreement and sentence-boundary problems in “more showers, toilets, and cark park has been build,” while punctuation is inconsistent, with spaces before full stops and commas. Practise accurate past-versus-present comparisons and simple passive forms, such as “The castle was replaced by a hotel,” before attempting longer sentences.
