Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant changes, including the hotel replacing the disused castle, the southern beach becoming private, and cafés and shops being added. However, the response addresses the map only partially: it does not give a clear overview of the main changes, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the marina and fishing-boat areas exchange locations, rather than the fishing-boat area simply becoming a marina with showers and toilets; the public beach in the north-east remains public. The claim that there is “another parking” is not explained as a change. The response is also 51 words below the required minimum, with nine prompt words excluded from the count. Develop the key comparisons and report locations more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response contains a basic sequence of observations, beginning with a general statement and then mentioning changes to the beach, hotel, marina and facilities. This gives the reader some sense of the topic, but the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs or grouped by area or type of change. Repeated openings such as “In 2000” and “There is also” make the progression list-like, while links between related changes are often missing. For instance, the marina and fishing-boat relocation could be explained together, followed by the changes around the southern road and beach. Use a brief overview and organise the remaining details into logical groups, with clear references to north, south and other locations.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “public beach,” “private beach,” “hotel,” “marina,” and “lifeboats,” so the reader can identify several features. However, the range is limited and some phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “fishing boat area,” “marina yachts,” and “hotel members.” “There are many things that are changed” is also vague for describing a plan. Use accurate labels and more specific change language, such as “the fishing-boat area was relocated” or “the marina moved to the southern basin.” Check singular and plural forms in phrases such as “cafés and shops” and “fishing boats.” A broader set of precise verbs and location phrases would make the comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use a simple subject–verb pattern, and the basic meaning is generally recoverable. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between features unclear. The opening has agreement and verb-form errors: “The plan below show” and “how it look today”; the overview also needs a past-tense form in “there are many things that are changed today.” Articles and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in “In 2000, there is a public beach.Public beach…” Capitalisation and spacing after full stops are also unreliable. The response makes little use of varied sentence structures, so comparisons are often presented as disconnected statements. Practise accurate past and present forms, articles, and joined comparison sentences, for example, “The beach was public in 2000 but is now reserved for hotel guests.”
