Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several major changes, including the relocation of the fishing boats and marina, the addition of cafés and shops, and the replacement of the castle by a hotel. You also note that the southern beach becomes private, which is an important comparison. However, the overview is not clearly separated from the details, and some information is inaccurate or unclear: the northern public beach remains public, rather than being the beach converted to private use, and the map shows an additional jetty and two boats at the dock, not “three passenger ferries and two docks.” The statement that the lifeboat and northern facilities remain unchanged also overlooks changes in their surrounding layout. Select the main changes more precisely and explain the overall pattern of redevelopment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response moves broadly from features that remain to new facilities and changes of use, so the reader can follow its general subject. However, it is presented as one long paragraph, and the sequence of points is not consistently clear. The opening sentence introduces the comparison, but there is no distinct overview before the details. Linking words such as “moreover,” “in addition,” and “in conclusion” are used, yet they do not always show the relationship between ideas; for example, “moreover” begins a sentence about added facilities without a clear connection to the preceding list. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and grouped details, and use references such as “the southern beach” to make comparisons unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “public beach,” “lifeboat,” “marina,” and “converted,” and you attempt to describe change with phrases such as “are switched” and “is now converted.” This gives you an adequate range for the task, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear. For instance, “three passenger ferries and two docks” does not accurately describe the map, while “in recent era” and “for the persons of hotel” are awkward expressions. Spelling errors such as “structres,” “addtion,” and “improvment” also reduce precision. Aim for standard map-reporting collocations and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple statements and more complex forms, including “which used to be a castle in past is now converted in hotel.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain across the response. Articles and agreement are problematic in phrases such as “difference between the structure” and “which includes,” while tense and passive forms are not consistently controlled in “in today cafe and shops are build.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: several ideas run together, as in “near the lifeboat.A structure,” and “moreover” should not begin a sentence with a lowercase letter. Practise accurate articles, plural agreement, and past-to-present comparison structures, then proofread each sentence.
