Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant changes, including the addition of cafés and shops, the replacement of the castle with a hotel, and the hotel’s private beach. However, the response gives only a limited account of the plans and does not provide a clear overview of the main transformation. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the dock is not described as becoming “two dock”; rather, an additional jetty is added and two boats are shown. The key change in the water areas is also missed: fishing boats move to the northern basin, while the marina shifts south. The statement that the public beach remains the same is relevant, but other important features, such as the lifeboat station and road, are only briefly mentioned. Select and compare the major changes more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic sequence, moving from a general introduction to features in 2000 and then to changes today. Paragraph breaks and connectors such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to organise the information. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into long sentences, and references such as “on there black side” and “its” are unclear. The opening sentence does not establish a useful overview, while the final paragraph mixes map changes with an unsupported explanation about visitors eating and shopping. Use a clear overview followed by separate, logically grouped comparisons, and connect each location to its direction or position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “public beach,” “lifeboat,” “marina,” “castle,” and “hotel,” so the reader can recognise several map features. However, the range is basic and often imprecise, and spelling errors frequently make the description harder to understand: examples include “cark parking,” “horbour,” “desgin,” and “showres.” Phrases such as “make two dock” and “do not get any types of possible” are not natural or clear in this context. Aim for accurate map-description language and standard spelling, using terms such as “is located,” “is replaced by,” and “is relocated” to describe changes. Avoid adding conversational explanations that are not shown on the plans.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses and time references, for example, “In 2000 there is a castle but now today…” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation make relationships between ideas unclear. In “its shows all the locations,” the subject and verb do not agree; “now porth horbour convert into hotel” also needs a passive construction and an article. Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, particularly the long description beginning “Moreover, in 2000…”. Use mostly controlled simple sentences first, then add accurate comparisons with forms such as “was replaced by” and “while.” Check tense consistency when contrasting 2000 with today.
