Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify that the harbour has changed and mention several relevant features, including the hotel, cafés and shops, the beach’s change in use, and the movement of the marina and fishing boats. However, the account only partially covers the plans: some details are inaccurate or unclear, such as saying the southern side was assigned to the marina, dock and passenger ferries, and that “all the things remain same.” The dock gains an additional jetty and has two boats today, while the public beach in the north-east remains. Your overview is also vague (“something new according to the current era demand”) rather than summarising the main transformations. Select the major changes accurately and compare the two plans more systematically.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction and an overall statement before describing changes. Some comparisons are signalled with phrases such as “in previous plan” and “in the new plan.” However, the response does not develop a clear sequence through the harbour, and several ideas are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the final sentence moves from showers to the lifeboat, marina and car parking without clear links or precise relationships. Paragraphing is limited, and transitions such as “also” and “now” do not consistently show how features relate. Group the changes by location or type, and use clearer comparison links to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “harbour,” “passenger ferries,” “public,” “hotel” and “fishing boat,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description difficult to interpret: “porth plans,” “marine,” “pessengers,” “boad” and “sowrs” are examples. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “coming for the luggage” and “this space was empty and free for public.” Use accurate map vocabulary and collocations, for example “facilities,” “relocated,” “replaced by,” and “reserved for hotel guests.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise terms would make the information clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses, as in “while there was one…” and “the current plan replace…,” but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in tense, agreement and sentence boundaries occur frequently: “the current plan replace” should be “the current plan replaces,” while “the older plan represnt many spaces that was given” has problems with both verb form and agreement. The sentence beginning “In the old plan…” runs several ideas together, making relationships hard to follow. Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “contains hotels cafe and shops.” Build shorter, controlled sentences first, then add accurate comparisons using past and present forms.
