Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies some relevant changes, including the addition of cafés and shops, more facilities, and the change from a public to a private beach. However, it gives only a limited account of the plans and does not clearly summarise the main overall changes. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the northern beach is not described as having three boats; the boats are in the harbour, and the dock has two boats today. The response also misplaces the beach change, which is on the south side of the road, not the south-east. The required minimum of 150 words is not met, further limiting the detail reported. To improve, compare the relocation of the marina and fishing boats, the new hotel, and the dock changes accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with an opening, a brief overview-like statement beginning “In a nutshell,” and further details. Linking expressions such as “Although” and “On the other hand” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several points are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, and the sequence of locations is unclear. The opening is also hard to interpret, so it does not guide the reader effectively. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and for specific changes, then group details by location or by what changed. Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise references would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response attempts some task-related vocabulary, including “facilities,” “cafeteria,” “visitors,” and “private beach,” and it recognises that the harbour has been renovated. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to understand, as in “vary differ inhancements,” “planty,” and “bathing areas.” Some expressions are also unnatural for describing a map, such as “this property has various renovations” and “beach shows with three boats.” Aim for accurate, standard terms for map features and changes, such as “harbour facilities,” “was replaced by,” and “was relocated.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise nouns will help communicate the comparisons more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to use longer sentences and contrast, for example, “Although in north side there were not cafeteria … nevertheless in present era…”. This shows some effort to connect clauses, but the structures are often faulty and can obscure the intended meaning. Verb forms and tense are inconsistent in phrases such as “how that map was looks alike” and “over the time period has been gone”; articles and agreement are also problematic in “there has a area.” Punctuation and capitalisation, including the all-capital sentence fragment, further interrupt the reading. Build a reliable base with clear past-versus-present sentences, then add one contrast clause at a time and check subject–verb agreement and articles.
