Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad change from harbour facilities in 2000 to visitor-oriented development today, mentioning the hotel, private beach, and cafés and shops. However, the response reports only a small selection of the map’s main changes and gives no clear overview of the most important transformations. Several details are unclear or inaccurate: for example, the public beach is not described as being for passenger ferries, and the changes to the marina and fishing-boat areas are omitted. The response is also 23 words below the required minimum, which limits the detail you can provide. To improve, summarise the overall redevelopment first, then compare the key changes in harbour use and facilities with accurate locations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic time-based order, moving from “in the 2000” to “in the present,” and it groups some facilities together. However, it is presented as one long, largely unpunctuated sequence, so relationships between features are difficult to follow. The phrase “on the other side” does not make clear which side is meant, and the repeated use of “and” creates a list rather than a clear progression. Organise the report into a short introduction and overview, followed by separate descriptions of the 2000 layout and today’s changes. Use clear linking phrases such as “By contrast” and “In addition,” and make sure each sentence focuses on a connected set of features.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “facilities,” “main road,” “car parking area,” “cafes and shops,” and “private beach.” This shows a basic ability to describe the setting and its amenities. However, the range is limited, with repeated general terms such as “areas” and “facilities,” and several spelling errors—“illustrte,” “redeveolped,” “avialable,” and “lifboats”—make the report less clear and polished. Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “the peoples those are staying in hotel.” Build a more accurate set of terms for map changes, including “relocated,” “replaced,” and “converted,” and check spelling and natural collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to compare two time periods using phrases such as “in the 2000” and “in the present,” but most of the writing relies on a single extended sentence with little punctuation. This makes grammatical relationships unclear and leaves little evidence of control over a range of sentence forms. There are errors in articles and sentence construction, for example “the hotel for the visitors and the tourists” and “for the the peoples those are staying in hotel.” The opening also lacks a clear, correctly formed sentence. Practise writing short, complete sentences with a subject and verb, then combine related ideas using accurate clauses. Check articles, plurals, and punctuation when editing.
