Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify several important changes, including the exchange of the marina and fishing-boat areas, the addition of a hotel and private beach, and new cafés and shops. The overview also recognises that the harbour has gained facilities. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the maps compare 2000 with today, not 2002, and the extra jetty is not described as being added “to facilitate the beach.” The north-east public beach remains, while the beach south of the road becomes private; your statement that it was “restricted for public use” is difficult to interpret. The dock, car parks, showers and toilets, and the unchanged lifeboat location could be reported more precisely. Overall, the main changes are covered, but some are less fully explained than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing changes and features that remain. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Additionally,” and “Furthermore.” However, progression within the body is uneven, and several ideas are crowded into long sentences. For example, the sentence beginning “Not only marina…” combines the relocation of two areas with facilities in the north-west, making the relationships hard to follow. Some connectors, including “As well as,” do not form a clear link to the preceding point, and references such as “same place” are vague. Grouping changes by location or by new, relocated, and unchanged features would make the organisation clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “converted,” “facilities,” “private beach,” “lifeboat,” and “ferries,” and you try to describe change rather than simply list map labels. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make meaning difficult to recover: “dipict,” “increasesing,” “animities,” and “resticated” are examples. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “dock yard was built,” “newly launched,” and “ferries ride.” Use the exact map terms where possible, and practise common collocations for describing plans, such as “a hotel replaced the castle” and “the marina was relocated.” More accurate spelling and phrasing would make your comparisons easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and more complex forms, including “Not only … but also …” and clauses joined with “however.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent. Errors in tense and agreement appear in phrases such as “changes have been taken place” and “there were increasesing facilities”; the comparison should consistently describe the past and present. Articles and plurals are also problematic in “only one dock” and “number of dock yard,” while sentence boundaries and punctuation are often unclear, as in “Overall,it can be clearly seen that ,now…”. These issues sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Build accuracy first with clear past-versus-present sentences, then add complex clauses only when their grammar is secure.
