Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant changes, including the hotel, cafés and shops, and the additional dock facilities. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: the overview is unclear and includes a contradiction, saying a hotel is included while also referring to a castle in the south-east. Some locations and changes are misreported or too vague. For example, the marina and fishing-boat areas exchange positions, but “marina private yachts area is change in fishing boats area” does not clearly explain this; the public beach that remains in the north-east is also not distinguished from the southern beach, which becomes private. To improve, give a clear overview of the main transformations, then accurately compare the key locations in both plans.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an opening, an attempted overview, and separate paragraphs beginning “firstly” and “Secendly.” This helps the reader recognise that you are comparing 2000 with today. However, progression is not consistently clear because the overview is difficult to follow and details are grouped without a reliable spatial order. The sequence “on the right hand side lifeboat however lest hand side have main road” makes the relationships between features hard to understand. Linking words such as “therefore” and “furthermore” are used, but they do not always express the relationship between the ideas that follow. Organise each period from north to south or west to east, and use clear comparisons such as “whereas” and “in contrast” to connect changes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “harbour,” “main road,” “public beach,” “marina,” and “car parking,” so the reader can identify several features. However, the range is limited and some word choices or spellings make the description difficult to interpret, such as “booten of the map,” “entry geet,” and “many think added.” There is also repetition of general terms such as “area” and “added,” rather than precise language for map changes. Aim to use accurate location and change vocabulary, for example “situated,” “relocated,” “replaced by,” and “to the south of.” Check spelling carefully, especially for labels copied from the plan, so that key features remain clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few longer sentences and uses basic sequencing, but sentence structures are limited and many sentences contain errors that make relationships unclear. For example, “The given two picture illustrates” has problems with number agreement, while “hotel is include on maps” and “marina private yachts area is change” use incorrect verb forms. Articles and sentence construction are also frequently missing or inaccurate, as in “on the north west side have three area.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, and several clauses run together without clear boundaries. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, using a subject and finite verb, then combine them with “whereas” or “while.” Check tense consistency when describing the past and present plans.
