Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main redevelopment and make relevant comparisons, including the relocation of fishing boats and the marina, the addition of cafés and shops, and the replacement of the castle by a hotel. The overview also recognises that the harbour changed substantially. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the marina was in the northern basin in 2000, not among features in the western corner, and the dock and passenger ferries are not simply unchanged because the dock gains another jetty and has two boats. The public beach remains in the north-east; it is the southern beach that becomes private. A clearer overview and more precise descriptions of these changes would make the account more complete and developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two time periods. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Furthermore,” and “However” help connect points. The organisation is coherent, but some sentences group several locations and changes together, making the spatial relationships less clear—for example, the 2000 description combines the western facilities, fishing boats, and marina in one sentence. The final comparison also risks confusion by saying the public beach, dock, and ferries remained unchanged before describing a beach change. Use more precise grouping and references, and organise details by area or by type of change, to make progression more consistently clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a suitable range of map vocabulary, including “layout,” “relocated,” “replaced,” “southern part,” and “private beach,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific terms such as “redevelopment” and “lifeboat station.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “yatchs/yachs,” “wherase,” and “in recent day.” Some phrases are also awkward or repetitive, such as “previous original places” and “area for castle.” Choose standard spellings and more natural collocations, and use directional language consistently. This would strengthen the adequate vocabulary range already shown and help the reader picture the changes more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while” and “where,” and the main message is usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In the overview, “with many new features have been added” incorrectly combines “with” and a finite verb; use “as many new features were added.” The sentence beginning “In 2000” also has a faulty structure: “two car parks, showers and toilet areas … along with fishing boats area and a marina … were located” does not clearly match its subject. There are also article, number, and tense-control problems, such as “In recent day” and “the previous fishing boats area.” Check sentence structure and agreement, especially in longer sentences, while retaining your attempts at complex comparisons.
