Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify a few genuine changes, including the addition of cafés and shops and the exchange of the marina and fishing-boat areas. However, the response reports only a small part of the plans and does not give a clear, accurate overview of the main developments. The claim that “the map does not changed any specific things” overlooks major changes: the castle becomes a hotel, the southern beach becomes private, and facilities and a second jetty are added. The comment that the extra showers and car parks “does not make any sense” is an unsupported opinion rather than a summary of the map. To improve, describe the key changes objectively and compare the harbour in 2000 with today.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has some basic organisation: it begins with an introduction and then mentions cafés, the marina and fishing boats, and facilities in the north. However, the ideas do not develop in a clear sequence, and there is no distinct overview of the most important changes. Phrases such as “I have seen” and “I also see” are repeated, while “in my point of view” shifts into personal opinion rather than continuing the map description. Some connections between ideas are difficult to follow, particularly the sentence beginning “In the north side.” Group the information into a clear overview and location-based details, and use straightforward links such as “In contrast” or “Meanwhile” only where they clarify a comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “harbour,” “fishing boats,” “marina,” and “cafes & shops,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or forms make the description unclear, such as “major changed,” “a cafes & Shops place,” and “a bad thing.” The response also relies on conversational phrases like “I have seen” instead of precise reporting language. Use terms that describe map changes directly—for example, “was relocated,” “was replaced by,” and “was converted into”—and name facilities consistently. More accurate spelling and natural collocations would make the information easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts several sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “There is a plan of harbour shows 2000 and now” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “the map does not changed” uses an incorrect verb form. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries in “I have seen one major changed is in 2000 porth harbour pictures i seen.” Most sentences are built from simple clauses, with limited accurate use of complex structures. Practise forming clear comparisons with past and present passive forms, such as “The marina was moved to the southern basin,” and check verb forms, articles and punctuation.
