Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response recognises that the maps compare the harbour in 2000 with its present-day form, and it notes one genuine change: the beach that was public is now private. However, it does not provide a clear overview of the main developments or accurately describe the harbour’s layout. Claims about “four directions” and an “entrance of beach” do not explain the map, while the comments about jet skiing, parasailing, visitors’ interests and social change are not shown in the visual. Important changes are omitted, including the relocation of the fishing boats and marina, the addition of cafés and shops, and the replacement of the disused castle by a hotel. Focus on observable features and compare their locations and uses.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to separate the description of the earlier harbour from the present with “But today,” and the final point returns to the public-to-private beach change. However, the ideas are not arranged as a clear map summary: the opening repeats the task, and the middle shifts into speculation about people’s lifestyles and activities rather than progressing through the locations or changes. Connections between details are often unclear, as in “Through the main road there is an entrance of beach.” Organise the response into an introduction, an overview of the main changes, and paragraphs comparing specific areas. Use simple linking phrases such as “In the north” and “By contrast” to make the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “main road,” “ferries,” “lifeboat,” “fishing boats,” “yachts,” and “private beach.” This shows a basic attempt to describe harbour features, but the range is repetitive and several choices are inaccurate or unclear. For example, “public washrooms” is not the map’s label, “expanded things activities” does not convey a specific change, and “social experiments” appears to be an unsuitable phrase in this context. Spelling errors such as “peaples” and “activites” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise map vocabulary, using terms such as “facilities,” “relocated,” “replaced,” and “adjacent to,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both short statements and longer sentences, including “In today harbour is also a private beach but in past its just a public beach.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between features difficult to understand. Examples include “In this plan harbour show,” “Harbour is a public beach,” and “The main features of harbour is increasing,” where verb forms, articles and sentence structure are not controlled. Tense and agreement also need attention when comparing past and present. Practise clear patterns such as “In 2000, the beach was public, whereas today it is private” and “The marina was moved to the southern basin.” Use full stops to separate complete ideas.
