Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main direction of change: the harbour has become more visitor-oriented, with a hotel, cafés and shops, and changes to the dock and facilities. You also note the exchange of the fishing-boat and marina areas and that the north-eastern public beach remains unchanged. These points support a clear overview. Some details, however, are inaccurate or unclear: the dock has an additional jetty and two boats, rather than simply doubling in size; the southern beach is private for hotel guests, not the public beach; and the road is not shown as newly connected to the hotel. The claim that the east side has had no development overlooks the hotel and beach change. More precise comparisons would strengthen an otherwise relevant summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing northern, southern, central and western changes. This gives the reader a workable route through the map. However, progression is sometimes weakened by repeated use of “While” and by abrupt shifts between locations within the same paragraph. For example, the paragraph beginning “In north side” moves from the dock to the castle and beach without a clear organising link. Some references are also difficult to follow, such as “the previous one” and “the space of each other.” Grouping the changes by area more consistently and using clearer links such as “In the south” or “By contrast” would make the relationships easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “dock,” “hotel,” “public beach,” “fishing boats,” and “Showers & toilets,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “sub-road” and “east-side.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “increasing number of dock,” “made seperate fishing area,” and “both the car parking space have connected” do not express the intended changes clearly. Spelling errors such as “comapred,” “developmet,” and “seperate” also reduce control. Aim for precise verbs commonly used to describe plans, such as “relocated,” “replaced,” “added,” and “remained unchanged,” and check spelling and plural forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause with “While” and a reason clause with “since.” However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some statements awkward or unclear. For example, “the dock area have double” needs a singular subject and a suitable verb form, while “castle has destroyed and replace” lacks the correct passive forms. “Overall, now port focuses” also needs articles and a more complete grammatical structure. Practise accurate past-to-present comparisons, especially passive forms such as “was replaced by” and present perfect forms such as “has been added.” Clearer sentence boundaries and punctuation would also help.
