Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several genuine changes, including the addition of cafés and shops, the replacement of the castle by a hotel, and the change to a private beach. However, the overview is unclear and includes inaccurate details: the plans show one dock area in each period, with an additional jetty and a second berthed boat today, rather than “three docks” becoming “only two.” The statement that “other things were same” also overlooks major changes, especially the exchange of the fishing-boat and marina areas and the new facilities. To develop the response, give a clear overall summary and accurately compare the main changes in the harbour, access and surrounding facilities.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, an attempted overview and a further paragraph, so there is some basic organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several changes are grouped together without a clear order, and the overview repeats points that are then mentioned again. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “First,” and “Secondly” provide some structure, but “And instantly” does not clearly express the relationship between the ideas. References such as “this” and “other things” are also vague. Organise the report by area or type of change—for example, harbour facilities, water use and the southern shore—and use clear comparisons between 2000 and today.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “car park,” “main road,” “fishing boats,” “Marina,” and “private beach,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range of descriptive language is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts harder to understand, such as “horbour,” “sepreate,” “butt,” and “reomved.” Phrases such as “a one linked road of toilets&shower” and “road of hotel” are not natural ways to describe the layout. Build a small set of accurate terms for map changes, such as “was relocated,” “was replaced by,” and “was added beside,” and check spelling and collocations before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, but the longer constructions are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “there are many differences have been show” has an incorrect verb construction, while “In past there are there docks” mixes tense and has an unclear structure. The report also shifts inconsistently between present and past when describing the two plans, and sentence boundaries and punctuation are not reliably controlled. Use the past tense for features in 2000 and the present tense for the current plan, and practise accurate comparison patterns such as “The castle was replaced by a hotel” and “The marina moved to the southern basin.”
