Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main transformation clearly: the disused castle becomes a hotel, the southern public beach becomes private, and the northern beach remains public. You also report the exchange of the fishing-boat and yacht areas, and mention new cafés and shops, so the response covers several important changes. This is a solid account of the plans, but some details are inaccurate or unclear: the dock is expanded with an additional jetty and boats, not a new dock on the southern side, and the road to the hotel is not described as a newly created branch. The overview could also capture the broader redevelopment more fully, including the added facilities and changes around the harbour entrance. More precise reporting would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the earlier and current layouts. This helps the reader follow the comparison, and transitions such as “In 2000” and “Today” make the time sequence clear. However, some sentences pack several locations together, particularly the description beginning “Alongside the main road,” so the spatial relationships become difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “In addition” are used, but connections between individual changes are sometimes mechanical or unclear. Organise each map description by area—for example, the northern entrance, central harbour and southern shore—and use clearer references such as “to the south of the marina” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “adjacent,” “private beach,” “lifeboat,” and “harbour,” and you attempt to describe change with phrases such as “is introduced” and “has swipped with each other.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “sorthern,” “toli ets,” “spcae,” and “swipped” are noticeable, while “dock space” and “fishing boat space” are imprecise for describing labelled areas. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “approaching towards eastsouth side.” Use accurate location terms and standard map collocations, such as “is located,” “was replaced by,” and “the areas were swapped.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more exact nouns would make the description clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including “Though northern public beach is still open for the public” and “Today, private yachts and fishing boat space has swipped with each other.” However, errors in agreement, articles, tense and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some relationships harder to understand. For example, “there was two dock space” should use a plural verb and noun, while “a fishing boat are was there” has an unclear noun phrase and incorrect agreement. The overview sentence “some major changes which includes a hotel is introduced” also combines structures awkwardly. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences with consistent past and present forms, and check subject–verb agreement and articles before adding complex clauses.
