Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad change from a harbour to a more developed site and mention several relevant features, including the hotel, cafés and shops, and the beaches. However, the account is only partial and some key changes are unclear or inaccurate. For example, “marine private yachts is replace on fishing boat” does not clearly explain that the marina moved to the southern basin while fishing boats moved to the northern dock basin. You also omit important developments such as the extra jetty and the change of the southern beach to a private hotel beach. The overview says development occurred, but does not summarise the main pattern of change clearly. To improve, compare the two plans directly and report the most significant relocations and changes in use accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and descriptions of the harbour in 2000 and today. This gives the reader some sense of the intended sequence. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several locations and changes are joined in long strings, particularly in the paragraph beginning “In 2000 there were only on place”. Linking is limited, and phrases such as “on the east side” and “on the south” do not always make the relationships between features clear. The final paragraph also ends abruptly after mentioning the hotel. Use separate, focused sentences and group features by area or by type of change; then use clear comparisons such as “whereas” and “by contrast” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “main road”, “public beach”, “car park”, and “hotel”, and you attempt to describe change with “significant development” and “introduced”. However, the range is limited, and repeated or inaccurate wording sometimes makes the meaning hard to understand. For instance, “marine private yachts” is not the correct form for “marina for private yachts”, while “one place for showers and toilets” is imprecise. Spelling errors such as “shwer”, “fisihing”, and “ocu ur” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of terms for map changes, including “relocated”, “replaced by”, “converted into”, and “adjacent to”, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is limited, and errors frequently make relationships between features difficult to interpret. Examples include “the main road is on western side have two paths” and “a marine private yachts is there”, where sentence structure, articles, and agreement are faulty. Verb forms are also inconsistent: “some significant changes hase been ocuur” and “is replace” do not express the intended changes accurately. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, especially where several clauses are run together. Practise writing one clear sentence for each location or change, using accurate past and present forms—for example, “The marina was moved to the southern basin, while fishing boats now occupy the northern basin.”
