Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the replacement of the disused castle by a hotel, the creation of a private beach, and the addition of cafés and shops. You also attempt an overview by saying the harbour has been renewed. However, the overview is unclear and some key changes are misreported: the marina was in the northern basin in 2000 and moved to the southern basin, while fishing boats moved in the opposite direction; your account reverses these locations. The new showers and toilets are also not clearly described, and the dock changes and continuing north-eastern public beach receive little attention. To strengthen the response, give a clear overview of the main transformations and describe locations accurately and consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction and overview, then moves to details about facilities, the beach and roads. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several features are combined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, “At east sourth side at the left side of bottom cafes and shops are new addition” makes the location and relationship between features hard to understand. Linking words such as “while” and “and” are repeated, sometimes joining ideas that do not contrast. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main groups of changes, and organise details by location or by what was added, removed or relocated. Clearer referencing would also help readers track which map and area you mean.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “harbour,” “marina,” “private beach,” “car park” and “replaced,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and word-form errors make parts difficult to interpret, such as “informations,” “renewed,” “sourth,” “priviat” and “buil.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “at the left side of bottom” does not clearly locate the cafés and shops, and “life boats” is not the label shown on the plan. Aim for accurate map language such as “in the south-west,” “was relocated to,” and “was added beside.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise location phrases would make your descriptions clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between features unclear. The opening, “The plan illustrate that how look harbour,” has problems with subject–verb agreement, word order and missing articles. Tense and verb forms are also unreliable in phrases such as “is replace,” “is build” and “lifeboats also buil.” Several sentences run together without effective punctuation, particularly the final section beginning “There was a castle disused…”. Practise using accurate past-tense forms for the 2000 map and present-tense forms for today, with a clear subject and verb in each clause. Shorter, correctly punctuated sentences would help you communicate the comparisons more reliably.
