Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the relocation of the marina and fishing boats, the replacement of the castle by a hotel, and the change to a private beach. The overview also recognises that some features remain unchanged. However, coverage is partial and some details are inaccurate: the northern public beach remains, but the passenger-ferry area and dock are not entirely unchanged, as the dock gains another jetty and has two boats. You also say cafés and shops were removed, although they are added in the current plan. The description of extra facilities and access to the car parks is unclear. To strengthen the response, report the main changes accurately and include the added cafés and shops and the dock alterations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs, so there is a basic attempt to organise the comparison. The main changes are grouped by location, and phrases such as “Overall” and “If we look at” signal movement between points. However, progression is limited because the hotel and beach changes are repeated in both the overview and a later paragraph, while the final paragraph combines several northern features without a clear sequence. Some linking is also awkward, and the claim that cafés and shops were removed disrupts the comparison. Organise the body paragraphs around clear areas or types of change, and use accurate references to connect each feature to its earlier or current position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “harbour,” “western side,” “car parks,” “marina,” and “private beach,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “mager changes,” “exchanged,” and “reserved public beach.” “The roads remains same” also uses an imprecise phrase for describing what is unchanged. Aim for accurate, conventional language for map comparisons, such as “major changes,” “was relocated,” and “was converted into a private beach.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating the same basic terms when a more precise alternative is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, and the reader can generally follow the intended comparison. There are attempts at longer constructions, for example, “In place of castle they made a hotel and for that hotel they reserved a public beach,” but control is uneven. Agreement errors occur in “Some places remains same” and “the roads remains same”; articles are missing in phrases such as “in place of castle” and “add one extra showers and toilets place.” Tense and sentence construction are also inconsistent, as in “Cafe and shops are removed which was along side with the lifeboat.” Practise accurate past and present forms for comparing plans, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
