Student answer (Band 6.0)

Weekends are the holidays which every body wants to be longer to enjoy it. It is stated that working time in a week should be reduced and employee should have longer week vacations. I strongly agree with this statement and I will discuss in detail.

To begin with, perspective of working week should be shorter and job holders must have flexiblity for spending their weekends longer. There are many reasons why this should be done. Firstly there are mainy daily basis jobs which requires lot of physical and mental work also, so the burden of work disturbs the employee physical and mental growth. To overcome this, workers should have a longer weekend for resting and also prepare themselves for upcoming week. Secondly the significant aspect of long weekends are that the employees give time to their family after a bussy week routine. Furthermore, its also be manageable for workers to attend a party or friends gathering if happens, which refreshes them.

The result is that after a bussy and tired week schedule a person who spent long weekend and came back to work, it manages job with more responsibility and ultimatley helpfull for the particular institution and his mental health also. For instance, if a worker faces difficulty in traveling from a far place it could be convenient for him to spend a reliable holidays at home after a long travel.

To conclude with my own opinion, I firmly agree that the weekend should be longer and working week should shorter. It assist the woker daily routine and refreshes him after a long week vacation which could worthy for institution where he works and his mental and physcial health also.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including the need for physical and mental rest, time with family, and the benefit of returning to work refreshed. The example about a worker travelling from far away also relates to the topic. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between longer weekends and improved responsibility or institutional benefit could be developed with a clearer explanation or a more specific example. The travel example is also not fully connected to why the working week itself should be shorter. Develop each main reason more precisely to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a body that presents reasons, and a concluding statement. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” help readers follow the main points. Overall, the ideas are arranged coherently, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “The result is that after a bussy and tired week schedule…” does not clearly show how it follows from the preceding points, and the travel example appears abruptly. Paragraphing would also be more effective if the separate reasons and their supporting explanations were grouped into clearly focused paragraphs. Use linking expressions selectively and make the relationship between each example and its supporting claim explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “burden of work,” “physical and mental growth,” “upcoming week,” and “institution.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the effects of work and rest beyond basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling sometimes make the meaning less natural, as in “long weekend vacations,” “bussy week routine,” and “reliable holidays.” There are also repeated references to “long weekend” and “work” that limit flexibility. Aim for more precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe employees as having “more time to recover” rather than “spending their weekends longer.” The intended meaning is generally understandable, but greater control would make the argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if a worker faces difficulty in traveling…” and a sentence explaining the effects of rest on work. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “jobs which requires” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “It assist the woker” needs a correctly formed verb and clearer reference. The sentence beginning “The result is that after…” is also difficult to follow because its clauses are not connected cleanly. Review agreement and verb forms, and divide long sentences when their structure becomes unclear. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen your range.
