Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, employees have argued for a shorter workweek and a longer weekend. I agree with this statement. Workers should get more holidays so they can spend more time with family and be more productive.
Firstly, Employees have to get more holidays; some Employees work long hours or do overtime. Because of this, they get stressed, or sometimes they suffer from depression. However, if they get more days off, they can relax and spend more time with their loved ones. Their bond with their family is affected because of this change. It can also improve both their mental and physical health.
Secondly, because of the more weekends, there is a high chance of increased productivity. We all know productivity is equal to output over input. For example, some companies try this concept of more weekends, and they receive positive feedback. As they give more holidays to employees, they come back with more innovative ideas, which is best for the company's growth.
But this rule is not for all jobs. Some jobs have to work more, for example, public transport, banks, emergency services such as the police, fire or ambulance and the most important hospital. These are some jobs that have to work more days.
In conclusion, I agree that employees should have longer weekends and a shorter working week. Because of this, the workers who work long hours and do overtime can get some time to relax and can spend time with their offspring. This can also increase productivity, which is helpful for the company's growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you agree that the working week should be shorter, and you give relevant reasons concerning family time, health and productivity. The examples of overtime and essential services also show awareness that the proposal may not apply in the same way to every occupation. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, you say that family bonds are affected, but do not clarify how a shorter week would improve them; the productivity claim relies on unspecified companies and feedback. The paragraph about jobs that must operate more days is relevant, but its connection to your overall proposal needs explaining, such as how shifts could preserve services while giving staff longer weekends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the main reasons, a qualification and a conclusion. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” make the progression apparent. Some cohesion is less controlled, however. “Because of this” is repeated, and the reference in “Their bond with their family is affected because of this change” is unclear: the reader cannot tell whether “this change” means long hours or more days off. The paragraph on essential services also feels somewhat detached because it does not explain how the exception fits your argument. Use more precise references and connect each paragraph’s final point to the central position.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss work, wellbeing and business, including “overtime,” “innovative ideas,” “mental and physical health” and “productivity.” These choices communicate the main points, and the meaning remains clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, but some expressions are imprecise or unnatural: “more weekends” is less suitable than “longer weekends,” while “the most important hospital” does not clearly describe the sector or service intended. “Offspring” is technically understandable but sounds overly formal and unnatural in this context. Aim for accurate collocations and a consistent level of formality, and avoid repeating general terms such as “more holidays” when you mean additional days off each week.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if they get more days off” and a relative clause in “ideas, which is best for the company’s growth.” Most sentences are understandable, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions remain. For example, “Employees have to get more holidays; some Employees work…” uses an unsuitable semicolon to join the ideas, and “These are some jobs that have to work more days” has an unclear subject relationship. Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “Employees.” In addition, the sentence beginning “Because of this, the workers…” is a fragment when separated from the preceding sentence. Improve sentence boundaries and check that subjects and clauses are connected clearly; this will make your varied structures more controlled.
