Student answer (Band 5.0)
People usually work for whole week and get tired and exhausted. Some persons believe that the working duration should be smaller because this helps workers to take enough rest at weekend. This essay will argue that, why extended leave is necessary for every type of employee.
Long weekend really is important rather then seven day hactic routine. Workers often enjoy spend time with their family, go out and have some dinner and play games with childs. They give time to their habits and get some relief for brain nerves which continuously involve in providing energy to our body parts to work. For example, in factories the labour do job for complete day and for week and they only get one day holiday to stay in home, sometime they call by owner on sunday. So its too much important to have two to three day weekend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You take a relevant position in favour of a longer weekend, stating that it is “necessary” and explaining that workers need rest and time with family. The factory example also supports your point about employees receiving only one day off. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it gives little explanation of how a shorter working week would benefit workers or employers, and the reasons are not developed beyond brief statements. The opening also promises to argue for extended leave “for every type of employee,” but the discussion focuses mainly on factory workers. The required minimum length is not met, so there is limited space to develop and support your position. Add a second distinct reason and explain each point with a specific example or consequence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall shape: an introduction states your view, followed by a paragraph about rest and family time, and an example from factory work. This gives the reader a basic route through your argument. However, progression is limited because the essay ends without a conclusion, and several ideas are placed together without clear links—for example, family activities, hobbies, and “brain nerves” appear in one sequence. The opening sentence about working for a whole week does not lead smoothly into the claim about a shorter working week. Use separate paragraphs for distinct reasons, connect each example explicitly to the main claim, and finish by restating your position. A small range of linking expressions would help make the relationships between ideas clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “exhausted,” “extended leave,” “relief,” and “holiday,” and the reader can generally understand your main point. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. For instance, “smaller” is not the usual way to describe working hours, “hactic routine” appears to mean a hectic routine, and “relief for brain nerves” is unclear. There are also spelling and form errors such as “rather then,” “childs,” and “sometime.” Build a more precise set of phrases for working hours, rest, and work-life balance, and check spelling and collocations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and a longer sentence beginning “because,” and the basic message is usually understandable. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “workers to take enough rest” (the verb pattern is incorrect), “Workers often enjoy spend time” (the verb after “enjoy” needs a different form), and “the labour do job” (the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence pattern is incomplete). The phrase “This essay will argue that, why…” also has an incorrect clause structure and punctuation. Practise accurate sentence patterns for giving reasons and examples, and check verb forms, articles, plurals, and subject–verb agreement. Clearer, shorter sentences would help you control these forms.
