Student answer (Band 5.0)

overall, i would say that it depend of the type of work .

first , as a teacher i would say it's a very difficult work , to teach many school subjects to more than 30 peaple without talking about details of age and going school today from 8 am to 4 pm . it's necessary to take more than two days off but we can't because we have vacation after all three months so we have to work for a week in order to Finish the program of all lecons .

now , in my opinion , for exemple working from home . they dont need a long weekend because they can create their own program as they like as a liberal worker .

working on an office is différent they have only 1h for lunch , when we talk about deplacement if they start at 8am they shoukd wakeup early throughout the week .

talking about animator, singer or actore, they need more than one week because they don't have a normal program .

finaly, i would say that all workers need more than two day for relaxing and clearing minde or to feel freedom and get energies and see the next face of life with family, friend.. yes money is good but not without peace mind and good health . i think it is necessary to take break when it's needed or anyone can't give more .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a relevant, qualified position in the opening—“it depend of the type of work”—and consider teachers, home workers, office employees and performers. The closing also expresses a view that workers need time to rest and protect their health. However, the response only partially answers whether the working week should be shorter: it shifts between needing more than two days off, having flexible schedules and taking breaks when needed, without clearly stating what change you support or consistently explaining why. Several examples, such as the teacher’s workload and office commute, are mentioned but not developed with specific consequences or evidence. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum. State your position directly and extend two or three relevant reasons with explanation and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence, moving from a general view to examples of different occupations and then to a conclusion. Signposts such as “first,” “now,” and “finaly” help the reader recognise these stages. However, the ideas do not build a clear overall argument: the discussion jumps from teachers to home workers, office workers and performers, and the relationship between these examples and a shorter working week is not always explained. There are no clear paragraph breaks, and several transitions feel like a list rather than a progression. Some references, such as “they” and “it,” are also unclear. Organise the essay into distinct paragraphs and use linking sentences to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “vacation,” “program,” “relaxing,” “freedom” and “good health,” and you attempt to describe different kinds of work. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning less natural, such as “clearing minde,” “get energies” and “peace mind.” Spelling errors, including “peaple,” “lecons” and “finaly,” are noticeable and can slow the reader. Some expressions are also imprecise, for example “see the next face of life.” Build a more accurate set of phrases for workload, rest and work-life balance, and check spelling and collocations carefully. This would make your ideas easier to understand and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example the sentence beginning “as a teacher” and the explanation about working from 8 am to 4 pm. However, the range is limited, and longer sentences are often difficult to follow because of frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, prepositions and punctuation. Examples include “it depend of the type of work,” “they have vacation after all three months,” and “they can create their own program as they like.” Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, with several ideas joined by commas or left as fragments. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea each, then add subordinate clauses only when you can control their structure. Proofread for subject–verb agreement and complete sentences.
