Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 163 words. This significant under-length severely limits the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position in favor of a shorter working week, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. You mention health and family time, but these points lack depth and specific examples to support your stance. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you reach the required word count to fully address all parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the structure is weak. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited. For example, you use 'so' and 'when' to connect ideas, but the transitions between sentences are often abrupt. The final paragraph is incomplete, which further disrupts the flow of the essay. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports your overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. You frequently use simple terms like 'good', 'work', and 'job'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'uncomfertable', 'countinusely', 'attension', and 'weak' (instead of 'week'). To achieve a higher band score, you need to expand your range of vocabulary by using more precise and academic terms related to the topic of employment and work-life balance. Avoid repeating the same words and focus on accurate spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('working days is', 'holidays is a need'), article usage ('a childrens'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors that occasionally make the meaning unclear. You rely heavily on basic sentence patterns. To improve, you should practice using a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, and pay closer attention to basic grammar rules like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
