Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is becoming a normal debate that whether the working week should become shorter for employees and they should be given longer weekend. According to my perspective, I firmly believes that this can be negative for workers as well as for companies. So, I am fully against disagree with this.
The continuous increase in holidays would make the workers lazy and less involved in their work. Furthermore, this may affect their health due to less working hours. Also, this can also chent the morale of any business or company. If, the working days will keep on shortening, it may affect the sales of the company and may not be able to achieve their goals.
On the other consequently, this would reduce the effectiveness and efficiency of their products, For instance, If the employers are not regular in the office this not only increase the time to make the product but also and increase the cost of the product and this can reduce customer satisfaction. The overall budget and strategies of a business gets disturbed. This would not only affect the earning of an enterprise but also reduce the salary of employees. Additionally it can affect the overall GDP and growth of a country.
In conclusion, the constant increase in off days would put the firm out of severe competition going between numerous corporations. So, I firmly believe that the weekends should remain shorter than office days.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against shortening the working week. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The arguments regarding worker laziness and business efficiency are presented but lack specific, well-developed examples to support the claims. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the depth of the discussion. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or real-world examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions are awkward, such as 'On the other consequently', which is a misuse of linking phrases. Additionally, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that the logical progression between sentences is smoother and more precise.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'chent' (likely meant 'dampen' or 'hinder') and 'off days' (which is informal). The repetition of basic terms like 'company' and 'business' limits your score. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the workplace and economics, and pay closer attention to collocations to ensure your word choices sound natural in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'I firmly believes' (subject-verb agreement), 'against disagree with this' (redundant phrasing), and 'If, the working days will keep on shortening' (incorrect punctuation and tense usage). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and eliminating redundant words to improve the accuracy and professional tone of your writing.
