Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is a concern regarding the whether workers should have a longer weekend and a shorter working week. I firmly disagree with this view as its disadvantages exceed its benefits.
I believe longer weekend can break the working algorithm of workers and may reduce their overall productivity in the long run. In addition, the employees would not be able to reach their monthly or yearly targets because of less working hours per week. Furthermore, the company or the overall business may lower its inputs and therefore, may face loss drastically.
On the other hand, workers will get more time to relax and go out on picnics with their friends and family. They will work more harder once take a break from their rigid schedule.Meanwhile, Companies can arrange short trips of employees every month. This will strengthen the bond between employees overtime and help to build a good teamwork. Also, employees have a chance to make this break productive by learning new skills which are going to excel their career growth.
I believe there should be a balanced approach to this view. Instead of long weekends workers should get short breaks of 2 days every week throughout the year. This approach would enable workers learn new things, spend enough time relaxing and also keep meeting their monthly and annual targets without harming the productivity.
In conclusion, The disadvantages of longer weekend outweigh it’s advantages, thus, eventually a balanced approach would be more effective than short workdays.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, though it is slightly contradictory. You argue against a shorter working week, yet your proposed 'balanced approach' of two days off per week is the current standard in most industries, making your stance slightly unclear. The ideas are relevant but lack depth; for instance, the claim that productivity will drop is asserted without sufficient explanation or real-world examples. Additionally, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the development of your arguments. To improve, ensure your position remains consistent throughout and expand on your reasoning with specific, illustrative examples to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the transition between the body paragraphs and the conclusion is somewhat abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive markers to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall progression of the argument is hindered by the lack of word count and the slight inconsistency in your stated position.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'productivity', 'rigid schedule', and 'career growth'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'break the working algorithm' (which is unnatural) and 'lower its inputs' (which does not clearly convey the intended meaning of reduced output or profit). There are also minor errors in punctuation and possessives, such as 'it’s' instead of 'its'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are natural and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'regarding the whether', 'work more harder' (double comparative), and 'enable workers learn' (missing 'to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and capitalization after periods. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct use of infinitives, and refining your control over complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
