Student answer (Band 7.0)
A usual working week in workplaces and schools consists of 5 working day and 2 holidays on account for the weekend. While some workers believe that 2 days of holiday is enough, others think that longer weekends are necessary.
After working hard for five days, many take the weekends as a time to pursue other interests or hobbies and take their mind off work. It is necessary that people take the time for themselves to recharge and focus on their health.
Shorter workdays would reduce pressure or stress for the workers and will help motivate them to put more energy into the work they do. Occupations such as software and cybersecurity requires a lot of time being spent working with gadgets which can cause a lot strain on the eyes. Therefore, to balance this individuals need the time and rest for their body. In addition, with longer hours of work, relationships between family and friends is deteriorating as people are unable to balance their work-life relationship.
It is true that with the increase in population and work demand, a decrease in working week would have a huge negative impact with many people. For example, in the field of medicine, doctors and nurses are expected to work every single day. Especially at the time of COVID-19 epidemic, people from pharmacy, medicine were essential to be on call whenever possible. On the other hand, with recent advancements in technology, there is a huge increase in cyber attacks and internet scamming which can cause people to work extra hours.
I believe despite any occupation , every individual deserves the time to focus on himself and spend time with his family and friends. Longer weekends would benefit a lot of people and help them take a break from this constantly evolving world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed the prompt by presenting a clear position in favor of a shorter working week. You provide relevant arguments regarding health, stress reduction, and work-life balance. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits are well-argued, the counter-argument regarding essential services like medicine is introduced but not fully integrated into your overall stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that you not only acknowledge opposing views but also explicitly explain why your position remains stronger despite those challenges. The conclusion is clear, but further elaboration on the practical implementation of your ideas would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
Your essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Therefore', 'In addition', and 'On the other hand', to link your ideas. However, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is slightly abrupt. Some of your referencing is also a bit mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph flows more naturally into the next. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'deteriorating', 'advancements', and 'constantly evolving'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'on account for the weekend' (should be 'as the weekend') and 'work-life relationship' (usually 'work-life balance'). You also have some minor grammatical-lexical slips like 'the field of medicine' instead of 'the medical field'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise academic collocations would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'Occupations... requires' should be 'require') and article usage (e.g., 'at the time of COVID-19 epidemic' should be 'the COVID-19 epidemic'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing errors, such as 'impact with many people' (should be 'impact on many people'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article consistency will significantly improve your accuracy.
