Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating an agreement with the proposal for a shorter working week. The main ideas—improving work-life balance and increasing employee productivity—are relevant and logically linked to the prompt. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. While the essay provides a clear position, the supporting arguments could be more nuanced; for instance, the discussion on 'earning bread and butter' is a bit informal and lacks specific, real-world examples beyond general observations. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more concrete evidence or detailed hypothetical scenarios to support your claims, rather than repeating the same points about relaxation and efficiency in each paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate. For example, the transition 'as a result' is used repeatedly, and there are instances where sentence structure makes the flow feel a bit disjointed, such as the run-on sentence in the second paragraph starting with 'Nowadays, peoples are busy...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on common phrases like 'earning bread and butter' and 'complete their personal work,' which are somewhat informal or repetitive. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'reduce the week days' instead of 'reduce the working week' and 'enhance efficiency' used in a repetitive manner. To improve, focus on incorporating more academic collocations and precise terminology related to workplace dynamics and economic productivity to demonstrate a wider, more flexible range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'employee need to take leave', 'Many individual feel stress'), incorrect pluralization ('peoples'), and punctuation errors, such as unnecessary capitalization of words like 'Provide' and 'Which'. Additionally, there are issues with article usage and tense consistency. To achieve a higher score, you need to focus on proofreading for these basic grammatical slips and aim for more accurate control over complex sentence structures.
