Student answer (Band 7.0)
In today's modern world, there are several topics and issues in debate. One such topic is the idea of shortening working week and increasing the number of weekend days for employees. Some people believe this as positive change, while others reject this notion. In my view, I completely agree with the given statement due to numerous facts that I am going to discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with, a long weekend plays an indispensable role in the daily life of employees, as it has a plethora of merits to enhance their happiness and productivity. For instance, due to high work pressure, many workers get exhausted and due to high stress levels, they may loose their concentration at work. Consequently, they do not handle their projects and regular tasks at work effectively and when they don't succeed in their goals, they get stressed and anxious. Therefore, if they have a longer weekend, they can recharge themselves and focus on their work with full enthusiasm.
Explaining further, poor work-like balance can create an array of distinct issues in the personal life of the employees. As a result, they are unable to give sufficient time to their friends, relatives and family members. Hence, it results in rising the personal issues among couples, which would resulted in ending the relationships among most of the couples. Nevertheless, if they have long weekends, they can devote their leisure time to their children and partner, moreover they can go for long trips to recharge their moods. Ultimately, longer weekends are responsible for rising the love and understandings among families of the workers.
To recapitulate, nowadays, due to the hectic lifestyle of human beings, it is highly beneficial for workers to have a longer weekend so that they can manage their work-life balance efficiently and give appropriate time to their family and friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding employee productivity and work-life balance are relevant and logically extended. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second body paragraph where the focus on family issues could have been more concisely expressed to allow for a broader exploration of the topic. The ideas are generally well-supported, but the essay would benefit from more specific, real-world examples rather than general statements about 'many workers' or 'most couples' to reach a higher band level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Consequently', and 'Nevertheless' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for the expression of ideas with reasonable precision. There is an attempt to use less common items such as 'indispensable', 'plethora', and 'hectic', which demonstrates a good range. However, there are some minor collocation errors and word-choice issues, such as 'rising the personal issues' instead of 'increasing personal issues' and 'resulted in ending' which is grammatically awkward. These errors do not impede communication but prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent minor errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'loose' instead of 'lose', 'work-like balance' instead of 'work-life balance', and 'which would resulted in' which contains a tense error. Despite these errors, the student demonstrates a good grasp of sentence construction, and the errors do not cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage.
