Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that the working week should be short and workers should have a longer weekend. I agree with this statement for two main reasons.
The primary reason why I agree is that employees need a time to spend their time with their families or friends. Therefore, they need a longer weekend and short working week. For instance, there is a research of "Why married individuals are breaking up?" the outcome was strange. Most of them separate because of one of them spend too much time on work.. Consequently, working hours make a huge impact on relationship, despite doing their work too many hours we should decrease the time of work. so they can have fun their leisure time with their loved ones.
Another reason supporting my opinion is that they need a time for hobby. In other words, a longer weekend can give a time for their hobby because they also need a period for their hobby. For example, they can acquire new abilities or hobbies during a weekend. Hence, this further supports my view that a longer weekend helps to reduce stress from a workplace.
In conclusion, although some people may hold the opposite opinion, I believe that longer weekend

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. For example, the point about hobbies is mentioned twice in the same paragraph without adding new depth. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly in the conclusion. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you reach the required length to fully explore the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and you use some basic cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow is often interrupted by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. For instance, the sentence 'In other words, a longer weekend can give a time for their hobby because they also need a period for their hobby' is circular and lacks logical progression. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each sentence builds upon the previous one will help improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive words like 'time', 'work', and 'hobby'. There are also some unnatural collocations, such as 'doing their work too many hours' instead of 'working long hours'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of employment and work-life balance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles ('a time for hobby'), incorrect preposition usage ('fun their leisure time'), and subject-verb agreement errors. Some sentences are also fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'despite doing their work too many hours we should decrease the time of work'. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors will help improve your accuracy.
