Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, There has been notable debate about the weather the working days should be shortened and longer weekend. I agree that the working days should be shorter for employees and weekend should be longer. The employees should be easily enjoy their longer weekend.
To start with, If workers should have the longer weekend they easily enjoy their weekend with their families and friends. They feel relax from their longer working days. They easily recover from their pressure of jobs because they have lot of pressure of their jobs. They have no time to relax. After spending the long days with families and friends they feel relax. For example, if employees have three days weekend they spend their time with families. do exercises and fellow their interests. When they return to their work they feel confident and relaxed.
Another reason, shorter working days can improve the productivity. In other words, when employees have working balance in their work they easily complete their work and more focused about their work. They gave time to their work and families. Employees gave the satisfaction performance to their work. Companies should fellow this trend for their workers. in the return they gave the outstanding performance to their companies.
To conclude with the, I agree that the workers should be shorter working days and should have a longer weekend. I think three days of weekend is enough for workers because they easily maintain their balance between the work and family and feel relaxed. They can be improve their work easily after the long weekend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating an agreement with the proposal for a shorter working week. The main ideas—improved work-life balance and increased productivity—are relevant. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about productivity is mentioned but not fully explored with specific evidence or logical progression. The ideas are presented in a general way, and the supporting examples, such as 'do exercises and fellow their interests', are quite basic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and perhaps a counter-argument or a more nuanced discussion of the implications for different industries.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Another reason', and 'To conclude with the'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as the phrasing 'To conclude with the'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive language, such as 'enjoy their weekend', 'feel relax', and 'work'. Some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'fellow their interests' (instead of 'follow') and 'satisfaction performance'. There are also minor errors in word formation and collocation throughout the text. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to work and productivity, and try to use more sophisticated synonyms to avoid repeating the same basic words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The employees should be easily enjoy'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'They feel relax' instead of 'relaxed'), and misuse of articles and prepositions. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the correct use of auxiliary verbs and adjectives versus verbs, to ensure your writing is more accurate.
