Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 184 words. This significantly impacts the development of the argument. While you attempt to address the prompt, the essay is incomplete; it ends abruptly in the second paragraph, leaving the argument unfinished. Because the response is under-length and lacks a conclusion or a fully developed second body paragraph, it does not address all parts of the task effectively. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, two well-developed body paragraphs with supporting examples, and a clear conclusion to meet the length and structural requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition signals like 'On one hand' and 'Furthermore'. However, the coherence is severely undermined by the incomplete nature of the text. The final sentence of the first paragraph is fragmented and lacks a proper ending, and the second paragraph trails off without completing the thought. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a concluding section makes the overall progression unclear. To improve, ensure that every paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your ideas are fully developed before moving to the next point, and always include a concluding summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'detrimental', 'degradation', and 'financial income', but there are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'scoiety' (society), 'poeple' (people), and 'probelm' (problem). The phrasing 'working behavior was not healthy' is slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure your spelling is accurate. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to the topic of labor and economics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede the flow. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'people has been working' (people have been working) and 'Critics has argue' (Critics have argued). There are also issues with article usage and sentence structure, such as 'working is essential for every people' (for all people). While you attempt some complex structures, the errors are frequent enough to affect clarity. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization rules before attempting more complex sentence structures. Proofreading for these common errors is essential.
