Student answer (Band 6.0)
Technology has advanced significantly. People spend more hours sitting at desks and doing work which gradually impacted their well-being. Therefore, I believe that working hours should be shortened and there should be long weekend for workers to spend their leisure time.
To begin with, reducing the working week allows one to maintain a healthier work-life balance. People become less prone to certain health conditions such as neck pain, eyesight issues, tension headaches, stiffness in the body. Now in every sector the usage of computers is compulsory, so people spend a lot of time in front of screens to accomplish their tasks and meet deadlines. For instance, IT professionals spend more time on laptops to write code and developing new applications and websites. As a result, longer weekends allow them to relax, recover from physical and mental fatigue, and return to work with greater energy and concentration.
In addition to this, longer weekend strengthen family relationships. Individuals relaxed and spend time on personal hobbies and with loved ones. Playing with children's reduced stress of a working parent. Also allow them to forgot about office work and enjoy playing with them. For example, a software engineer who works long hours during the week can spend weekends taking their children to the park, helping them with their studies, or enjoying family outings. This not only strengthens family bonds but also helps the parent return to work feeling refreshed and motivated. As a result, workers return to work feeling refreshed, happier, and more motivated.
To recapitulate this, shorter working week allows individuals to maintain balance between work life and leisure activities to stay active. Also, It helps them to establish strong bond with children's, family members and spouse.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response clearly addresses the prompt and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding physical health and family relationships are relevant and logically extended. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion where the points are restated without adding new depth. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported argument rather than circling back to the same points about 'refreshment' and 'motivation' multiple times. Overall, the task is addressed well, but the depth of analysis could be more varied.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition to this', and 'To recapitulate' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'Individuals relaxed and spend time' and 'Also allow them to forgot'. While the progression is generally clear, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fatigue', 'compulsory', and 'well-being'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'doing work which gradually impacted' (instead of 'which has gradually impacted') and 'playing with children's reduced stress' (grammatically incorrect). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on correct word forms and more sophisticated collocations will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'longer weekend strengthen' (should be 'strengthens') and 'Also allow them to forgot' (should be 'allows them to forget'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is occasionally repetitive. To improve, focus on ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree and that your verb tenses remain consistent throughout your arguments.
