Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, employment workers are major role for companies profits. It is believed that, the working week should be shorter rather tan should have a longer weekend. I partly agree with the given statement.
To embark with, many employees should working week should be shorter because they can spend quality time with their families and create emotional bonds. Furthermore, they have used these free time for hobbies and relax at home because it enhances practical skills and knowledge. As a result, it helps to reduces mental stress ,work pressure, and improves wellbeing. For example, may employees have well-rested after that they perform better and full energy for work. In addition, they can keep maintain physical health and proper sleep time because they cannot make fewer mistake about the work.
On the other hand, many company believe that the working should not be shorter because many Businesses are losing their profits and produce less productivity. Moreover, some workers may earn less money because they have paid money for per hours. As well as, companies may need to hire new more staff and provide more services such as hospitals, police, public transport, and emergency because they can operate every day. For example, many workers may take shorter working per hour so they cannot manage their family responsibilities and personal needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding productivity loss is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with a concrete, logical link to the business impact. The conclusion repeats the prompt's premise rather than synthesising the main points effectively. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments lack depth and the overall structure of the argument is slightly repetitive, which limits the score to a 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To embark with' are used incorrectly, and transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between 'well-rested' employees and 'cannot make fewer mistake' is confusing. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs needs more logical progression to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'employment workers' instead of 'employees' and 'produce less productivity' instead of 'lower productivity'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'wellbeing' and 'responsibilities', but frequent errors in word formation and collocation (e.g., 'keep maintain') hinder the natural flow of the text. To improve, the student should focus on learning collocations and using more precise terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('many company believe'), incorrect verb forms ('should working week should be'), and awkward phrasing ('they have paid money for per hours'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and missing spaces. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to sentence construction and proofreading is required.
