Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is being argued by a group of individuals that there should be a longer weekend and work load of employees should be reduced because it will provide a chance to spend time with family and increase the productivity, motivation and passion for work. I firmly believe that the working week should be made shorter in order to boost the outcomes from the working staff.
The first and foremost reason that one group of people would be arguing is that a longer weekend depicts an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. As every worker who works 9 to 5 in an institution wait for weekends to spend plenty time with family. For example, a research showed that a man is 5 times more happier when he is with the family as compared to the period when he is at work.
The longer weekends will also boosts the productivity of the workers because they will calm and refresh the brain of the employee. A relaxed and fresh brain is more functional as compared to the one which has become habitual to a routine. As evidenced by a study carried out in Nigeria which states that a brain getting constant repetitive stimuli responds at lower rates than a brain which receives the same stimulus for the very first time.
In conclusion, I would say that a longer weekend will offer more time to employees to spend with family and friends and will increase the working capacity and motivation of the employees.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of a shorter working week. The ideas regarding family time and increased productivity are relevant and logically linked to the topic. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments rely on generalized statements rather than deep analysis or specific, well-integrated examples. The reference to a 'study carried out in Nigeria' is a good attempt at supporting evidence, but it lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the implications of these arguments, perhaps discussing the economic impact or the long-term sustainability of such a policy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing within sentences could be smoother. For instance, the connection between the 'brain' argument and the 'Nigeria study' could be more fluidly integrated to improve the overall flow of the paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'habitual' and 'stimuli', which demonstrate a reasonable range. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and minor collocation errors, such as 'outcomes from the working staff' and 'a man is 5 times more happier'. These errors do not impede communication but prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise word choices and natural collocations would enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. Examples include 'It is being argued by a group of individuals that...', which is wordy, and 'a research showed', where 'research' is an uncountable noun. Additionally, there are errors in subject-verb agreement and comparative structures, such as 'will boosts' and 'more happier'. While these errors do not cause significant difficulty for the reader, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences is recommended.
