Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this concurrent era, each individual have a long tensed working day, owing to which few people assert that working week should have shorter working time and workers should be alloted with long weekend. I completly agree with the statement and the upcoming paragraphs will justify my viewpoint.

To start with, there are plethora of reason that why worker should have longer weekends. First and the foremost reason is that worker who work hard to earn a livelihood for their family throughout the year are also humans and get fatigue by working intensely, longer holidays would allow them to recover in a better way and perform well in their upcoming work. Moreover, some individuals have to work on screen that put strain on their eyes and mind. For example, bank employe have to do accounting and manage data of the bank that make their day streeful without even performing a heavy left work. Thus, worker should have longer weekday off to relax.

* Another key reason is that by having a shorter period to work in a week, employees would get to see and spend quality time with their family member. As it is seen that male member who do not work for several hours often get to spend less time with their children, that leads to dettachment among family member. Resultantly, by having a short working week individuals will be able to enjoy with their loved ones.

In conclusion, I restate my opinion that although work is a part of life and helps to improve the economy of nation, shorter working week should be mandatory so that people are able to relieve from stress and be fresh minded.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of a shorter working week. The ideas are relevant, focusing on physical/mental health and family time. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the example of bank employees is a bit narrow and could have been expanded to discuss the broader societal impact of a shorter work week. While the position is consistent, the arguments lack depth and could benefit from more sophisticated reasoning or counter-argument consideration to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the use of the asterisk symbol at the start of the third paragraph is an unnecessary formatting error. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word forms, such as 'alloted with long weekend' (allotted a longer weekend) and 'heavy left work' (heavy lifting). Spelling errors like 'completly', 'streeful', and 'dettachment' also occur. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and relies on basic descriptors rather than more sophisticated or academic terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('each individual have', 'worker who work') and missing articles ('bank employe', 'part of life'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and minor errors in word order. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
