Student answer (Band 5.0)

Yes ,i firmly believe that working weeks should be brief and holidays should prolong as it improves the mental well being of the worker who are stick to their busy schedule and have no time to spend with their family.

Such kind of change will increase the working effeciency of person and thus improve the quality of work as a result that particular organisation where the worker work will be benifited.

Moreover ,the company should arrange family tour ,recreational activity and office gettogethers that increase the interest of the workers .it will give them motivation to work and they will do their work with more consistency ,hardwork and dedication .

If companies who have sufficient employs according to their work load ,there will be no effect on work as the weekday are shorter .shorter weekdays does not mean limiting it to 3 day but it means those companies who have week days of 6 days should be restricted to 4 or 5 days .

The government should have developed country wide legistlation to shorten the weekdays .there should be a strict law to restrict the companies who overburden their employs.

if such kind of strict act is imposed ,there will decreased risk of mental illness and thus contribute to peaceful, calm and healthy society because only healthy mind can have positive impact on society and decreases the chances of crimes and unlawful activities

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of shorter working weeks. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement (232 words), which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas regarding mental health and organizational efficiency are relevant, they are not fully developed or supported with specific examples. The argument remains somewhat superficial, and the lack of sufficient length prevents a more comprehensive exploration of the topic. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples to meet the word count and provide a more thorough analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is sometimes hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. While some linking words like 'Moreover' and 'Thus' are used, the transition between ideas is occasionally mechanical. The paragraphing is present, but the structure within paragraphs could be more cohesive to guide the reader more effectively. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall progression of ideas feels a bit disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'effeciency' (efficiency), 'benifited' (benefited), 'employs' (employees), and 'legistlation' (legislation). Additionally, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'brief' to describe a working week. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes. Expanding your range of collocations and using less common lexical items accurately would help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, with some attempts at complex sentences that often contain errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'worker who are stick' (workers who are stuck) and 'weekday are shorter' (weekdays are shorter). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of grammatical errors is noticeable and occasionally distracts the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors in verb tense and pluralization.
