Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position, the arguments remain underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth or specific examples. The conclusion is also missing, leaving the essay incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your points by providing more detailed explanations and ensuring that you address all parts of the prompt with a full introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic, resulting in a lower score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization using transition words like 'First of all', 'Besides that', and 'Furthermore'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present but the final paragraph is non-existent. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or used incorrectly, such as 'causes to creativity' which disrupts the flow. To improve, focus on creating a more structured argument with clear topic sentences and ensure that each paragraph transitions smoothly into the next, leading to a well-rounded conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'distracting their comfort' and 'perform substantially incredible'. You rely on repetitive structures and basic terminology. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. Focus on using words in their correct context rather than just attempting to use 'advanced' words, as incorrect usage can impede clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect readability. Examples include 'some people consider that working week should be' (missing articles), 'this views' (plurality error), and 'whenever a coder do coding' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure is often repetitive. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence variety. Ensure that you proofread your work to catch these common errors before finalizing your response.
