Student answer (Band 5.0)

No, I'm not agree this statement. Because the working week is short at first and people cannot complete their work in the week.

If the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend, the country face the problem of economy loss. If it true, workers health would be better but company in the loss and after spending time like this schedule workers feel laziness and their heart do not include in the work.

In conclusion, I'm not agree. First it's better. And workers also have the one holiday at the weekend. And in this vacation, they can enjoy with their family. So, this statement is completely incorrect and I'm agree on this schedule.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 117 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and under-developed. While you state a position, the arguments regarding economic loss and worker health are not supported with sufficient detail or examples. Furthermore, the conclusion is contradictory, as you state you do not agree with the proposal but then conclude by saying you agree with the current schedule, leading to confusion regarding your stance. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure your position is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is unclear. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'If' and 'And'. The logical flow is hindered by the contradictory statements in the conclusion, where the transition between ideas is abrupt and confusing. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'on the other hand') to connect your sentences and ensure that your arguments follow a logical sequence that supports your main thesis.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. Phrases like 'economy loss' and 'heart do not include in the work' are unnatural and imprecise. There is a lack of academic vocabulary appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations and more sophisticated synonyms for common words. For example, instead of saying 'the country face the problem of economy loss', you could use 'the national economy would suffer a significant downturn'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I'm not agree' (should be 'I do not agree') and 'company in the loss' (should be 'companies would face losses'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms is essential.
