Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years there has been a trend that the The working days of workers should be shorter and employees should have longer weekends. I partially agree with this statement that the working days should be shorter than the weekends. In this essay i will state my reason and also include relevant examples from my own experience.

In many countries there are vacations for the employees too such as Germany, Thailand and many more. It is also depend on the working hours the employees work for like the employees works 24 by 7 the the working week should be shorter and workers deserves longer weekend. however, the administration should be giving free holidays to those candidate who really need it for like employee could not come because of his health issues and can be any type of emergency and in many countries the work and health of the workers are the priority of the administration.

Moreover, the workers also need longer weekends because of their work and it should be because the work and the weekends should be equally distributed among all the workers because every employees want to spend time with their family and friends in addition because of the work they cannot. However, the administration should give weekend long too but not that much long for the employees. If workers got long weekends and do not have to work full time then it will be a large issue for the country because the employees will become lazy and will avoid the work.

To conclude i partially agree that the employees should get longer weekends than the working weeks. That the longer weekends have more advantages then the working weeks and the working weeks got more drawbacks than the longer weekends.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent and often unclear. While you mention the need for work-life balance, the arguments regarding the economic impact of shorter weeks are underdeveloped and somewhat contradictory. For instance, the claim that employees might become 'lazy' is a relevant point, but it lacks sufficient explanation or evidence to support your position effectively. The essay touches on the topic but fails to provide a cohesive, well-supported argument throughout, which limits the depth of the response. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-explained idea that directly supports your thesis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'However', they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that makes the flow of logic difficult to follow. For example, the transition between discussing health issues and the economic impact of long weekends is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it hard for the reader to track your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'work', 'employees', and 'longer' throughout the text. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'candidate' when referring to employees, which is contextually inappropriate. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use less common or more precise lexical items. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to labor laws, productivity, and workplace dynamics, and focus on using words that are appropriate for a formal academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the employees works', 'workers deserves'), article usage (e.g., 'the The working days'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain run-on structures that lack proper punctuation. While you attempt some complex ideas, the lack of control over basic grammar limits the clarity of your expression. Focusing on fundamental accuracy, such as ensuring verbs match their subjects and using articles correctly, will help improve your score significantly. Try to proofread your work specifically for these recurring errors.
