Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this easy we can see the working week should be shorter and workers should have a long weekend in our daily life.

In the shorts working days we need to do work very fast and we also need to complete our all tasks. For example if we complete our work in full week then we also need to do some extra work for it. In the short time we can manage all our works in the routine. If we want to do some extra and side business then we can start it and we can manage it with the working routine. For example if we are doing a job and we also doing a short time work then we can manage and handle the other business. We can get the more benefits and more opportunities by the shorter time working.

On the other hand if we can do longer time work then we can manage only on business or job. Because in the longer time we will do our 100 percentage to our one job and we can get benefits through this job and business. In the longer time working we can manage all the work easily with the passage of time. And also we can completes ours goals and tasks which we have. But in longer time working we can gets more opportunities and rewards through our jobs and some bonus.

So in my opinion both shorter and longer are good for our experiences but I'm completely agree with the longer working week and we also can get more benefits through the longer time workings. If we will do our more concentrations for our work then we can get more experience and some benefits through the working.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the pros and cons of a shorter working week, but the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you state your position clearly in the conclusion, the arguments provided are not fully extended or supported with specific, convincing examples. The reasoning regarding 'side business' and '100 percentage' effort is vague and lacks depth. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument that directly supports your stance, rather than listing general observations. The ideas remain at a surface level, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'For example' and 'In the short time'. Some sentences are disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. Referencing is also inconsistent, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the benefits of longer hours and the conclusion is abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'work', 'job', 'business', and 'benefits'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'In this easy' (likely meant 'essay') and 'do our 100 percentage'. The lack of precision in your word choice makes it difficult to convey complex ideas effectively. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of employment and productivity, while being careful to use them in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('we also doing', 'we can gets'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence structures. While the meaning is generally understandable, the errors are persistent and occur throughout the text. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and pluralisation, before attempting more complex grammatical structures. Proofreading for common errors like missing 's' on verbs or incorrect prepositions will significantly improve your clarity.
