Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health and work-life balance. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of a survey in the United States is vague and lacks specific detail, which weakens the support for the argument. While the main points are clear, they could be extended with more nuanced reasoning or concrete examples to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, restating the position without adding significant depth to the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Therefore', and 'For example' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Pondering over the topic'. Additionally, there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall progression of the argument is easy to follow, though the logical links between the health benefits and the conclusion could be more tightly integrated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'degradation', 'detrimental', and 'cognitive abilities'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'common held', 'working week should be alleviate', and 'working for longer time emphasize badly on cardiac'. These errors occasionally hinder the natural flow of the text. To improve, the student should focus on learning collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms, articles, and prepositions (e.g., 'people are much concerned in regard to work', 'taking proper rest essential to evolve', 'earning money with working'). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they rarely impede the reader's understanding. A greater focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice would help improve the accuracy of the writing.
