Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is a point of debate whether working week should be shorter or not. A significant chunk of society welcome conceptions, whereas the remaining members oppose the idea. I entirely accept the phenomenon and explain why in the paragraph below.
There are numerous arguments which go along with the personal perspective. First and most prominent lies in the fact that human beings should be extra careful with their decisions. From my perspective, nowadays everyone is going through a typical phase such as workload, time boundation, and stress. They are working full time for 8 hours from Monday to Friday, due to which they are unable to give time to their families. They are working under high pressure jobs, stress of presentations, their data file, with this much pressure they are going through several challenges such as fatigue, depression, and mental stress. They want that their workdays should be shorten, so they can take care of themselves, or their families. Hence, the situation changed drastically after a couple of years.
On the other hand, there are some indispensable arguments which are incumbent to be discussed. Nowadays, people gave respect to them whose income is higher, only they deserve respect. Since everything is based on the income, then fewer working days can't help them. Additionally, the cost of living is increasing day by day, that everyone can't afford their living expenses. However, longer weekend has positive effect on the workers, whereas they can't fulfill their needs in just 4 days works. Hence, the working week should remain same, so that they can earn enough money for their better living standard.
All the above discussed assertions lead to the conclusion that although people enjoy numerous benefits towards the trends. So, in my opinion, it would be wise enough to say that the working week should not be shorter for the benefit of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt but suffers from a significant contradiction. In the introduction, you state, 'I entirely accept the phenomenon' (agreeing with a shorter week), but the conclusion argues that 'the working week should not be shorter.' This inconsistency makes your position unclear throughout the essay. While you provide relevant arguments regarding stress and economic necessity, the lack of a consistent stance prevents the development of a coherent argument. To improve, ensure your thesis statement in the introduction aligns perfectly with your final conclusion, and ensure each body paragraph clearly supports that single, unified position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by the contradictory stance mentioned above. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'Additionally,' which help link ideas, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is weak. The final paragraph is particularly confusing because it summarizes the benefits of the trend you ultimately argue against. To improve, use more sophisticated linking words and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one to support your central argument, rather than jumping between opposing viewpoints without a clear narrative thread.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary, such as 'indispensable,' 'incumbent,' and 'assertions.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and unnatural collocations, such as 'time boundation' (not standard English), 'welcome conceptions,' and 'data file.' Some phrases are repetitive, and the word choice occasionally lacks precision, which limits your ability to convey complex ideas fluently. To reach a higher band, focus on learning natural collocations and avoiding 'dictionary-heavy' words that do not fit the context of the sentence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'working week should be shorter' (missing article), 'people gave respect to them whose income is higher' (awkward relative clause), and 'everyone can't afford their living expenses' (imprecise phrasing). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
