Student answer (Band 5.0)
I strongly agree with workers having longer weekend and working week should be short. There are alot of reasons for it.
The workers who works hard the whole week and they are unable to spend time with their family members. By giving longer weekend they can spend time with them. Workers works hard the whole week they can have rest in longer weekends. Which will improve both of their physical and mental health. Workers would be able to concentrate on their work after long weekend and they would work more harder.
Workers can hangout with their friends on weekend so they can be happy and forget about the stress of the whole week. I have an example of one of my uncle. he used to work hard the whole week and only had 1 day off on weekend. Whenever he used to enter our home he was always exhausted and tired. He had no time for his family, friends and parents. The one day off on weekend he used to sleep almost the whole day. He was very week both mentally and physically.
In conclusion I would say workers should have longer weekends and shorter working day.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the arguments remain underdeveloped and repetitive. For example, the point about physical and mental health is mentioned but not explored with sufficient depth or specific evidence. The conclusion is also very brief and lacks a summary of the main points. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You rely on simple transitions like 'The workers who...' and 'In conclusion', but there is a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas smoothly. Paragraphing is present, but the body paragraphs are quite short and lack internal cohesion. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition to this') to create a more natural flow between your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use repetitive phrasing, such as 'workers works hard the whole week' and 'spend time with them'. There are also some word-choice errors, such as using 'week' instead of 'weak' when describing your uncle. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. For instance, instead of repeating 'work hard', you could use 'demanding professional responsibilities' or 'strenuous labor'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The workers who works') and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'work more harder'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that comparative adjectives are used correctly.
